Verizon Wireless Succeeds in Testing 4G Network

The first Long Term Evaluation of the 4G network has been successfully completed by Verizon Wireless. The company chose two cities Boston and Seattle to evaluate the working of its next generation data network and both the cities recorded success for the service provider.

Verizon used 3GPP Release 8 Standard to test the 4G calls that would provide better network standards in the upcoming years. For this, a number of aspects including video streaming, file uploading, file downloading, web browsing and others were assessed using the new standard. Data calls using VoIP were also tested using 4G network. With its success, expectations for superb voice transmission will be fulfilled in all parts of the country.

Verizon aims at developing its 4G network all over the country by the end of 2013. After successful testing in Boston and Seattle, the service provider will be launching the network facilities in as many as 30 markets in 2010. Thus, more than 100 million users will be covered with the installation of this network.

Ten testing cites were installed in each of the two cities and the spectrum of 700MHz has been utilized in testing. The issues that arose will be utilized by the company to improve the working of the network in upcoming months. Verizon partnered with a number of equipment provider to execute the testing of 4G. Better mobile services and super fast broadband support are the targets that would be achieved with extension of 4G network in other parts of the country.
