Palm Introduces Pixi - New Smart Phone after Palm Pre
Palm Pre was introduced as a CDMA device and it run on the WebOS platform, developed by Palm and Linux. Though, a GSM version of the device has been highly expected, the CDMA device has been able to establish a strong position in the market. Now, the manufacturer has introduced a new smart phone, which will also be a CDMS device, supported by WebOS.
The new device has been introduced as the Pixi (it seems that Palm has fallen in love with the letter āPā). After being in rumors for long, the cell phone has finally got a list of specifications. Palm Pixi will be packed with a 2.63 inch capacitive touch screen display offering the resolution of 320 x 400 pixels. The cell phone is a bar form factor device, with a 2 MP camera and 8 GB of memory as other features.
What impresses about the device is its compact design. The Pixi is even more squashed than Nokia E71, as it is packed in 10.85 mm thickness and carries the weight of only 99.5 g. Qualcomm MSM7627 CPU is going to appear first time in this device and thus, we will eagerly wait to review its performance.
The cell phone misses on Wi-Fi, but offers the support for GPS through a built-in receiver. Palm Pixi is expected to hit the stores of the United States during holidays, though there is no mention about the exact release date and the price tag.
