Nokia Working on a 4G Device – Nothing Official Yet
Nokia, the leading cell phone manufacturing company, has been facing tough time in maintaining its numero uno position in US market. The recent blow of customer’s complaints against Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has made the company wide awake. Though, the issue has been resolved and the cell phone units are expected to hit the shelves sooner than possible, the company is making attempts to revive its image.
As a result, the rumors about Nokia working on a touch screen device to accommodate the innovative 4G network of none other than Verizon Wireless have surfaced. However, the spokesmen from both the companies have not seriously commented on the news. But, it is certain that the two companies are working on a soon to be launched project.
Verizon Wireless took the opportunity at MWC, Barcelona last month to announce its desire to launch 4G network in the nearby future. The network will be facilitated by the technology known as Long Term Evolution. Needless to say, the mobile carrier will require a brand new device to mark the fresh beginning of its ambitious network upgrade. So, it is expected to be a Nokia device.
If this happens, Nokia will be ready with an answer to Apple’s iPhone, whose popularity had harmed the market share of Nokia devices in the US market. Also, Verizon Wireless will be able to give tough competition to AT&T, the exclusive mobile carrier of iPhone in the country.
If this has to happen, you can expect it to be in the news by the end of 2009 or in the beginning of the next year.
