Nokia N900 Getting Ready To Play Dual Role
Nokia talked about its internet tablet, called N900, few days back. The device is also going to play the role of a cell phone. Expected to release by the end of the year 2009, this device recently revealed some of its features, along with the price tag of $784.
Internally named as RX-51, the device will run on the Maemo operating system, which is yet to be launched by Linux. So, a brand new platform will replace the usual Symbian functionality, generally found in Nokia devices. The resistive touch screen display with resolution of 800×480 will be accommodated by Nokia N900.
The device will provide space to 32 GB of onboard memory. In addition, the micro SD card slot has been reserved in the device to accommodate another 32 MB of memory space. It will be powered by ARM Cortex A8 processor, whose speed has not been revealed as yet. Another revealed feature of the device is a 5 MP camera.
A1320 mAh battery has been included in the device and the user will be able to recharge it using micro USB port. It will be a multimedia supportive device, offering TV out facility as well.
Nokia N900 is expected to be powerful enough to be at par with N97 from the house of Nokia itself. Also, the device will have the capability to boot faster than Symbian powered devices. Moreover, the device will compete with iPhone in terms of touch functionality. A browser supporting videos and flash, along with GPS functionality and social networking website access completes the list of features revealed so far.
