Motorola to Initiate the Fresh Wave of Android Powered Cell Phones

The long wait is about to get over, as Motorola chooses September 10 as the day to unveil its first cell phone powered by Google’s open source operating system, Android. It is going to be a popular event for more than one reason. First, Motorola considers the new device as an acid test for its diminishing reputation in the marker. Second, the manufacturer is taking up the responsibility of initiating the fresh lot of Android devices to enter a market, which has already become competitive with Apple’s iPhone and RIM Blackberry devices.

Android was launched as an open source operating system for cell phones by none other than Google in the year 2007. The platform instantly became a competitor with existing Symbian and Windows Mobile operating systems. However, only four Android devices have entered in the market and have certainly attained immense popularity. Now, starting with Motorola’s Android based smart phone, a new lot of Android devices will find its way to the market. As promised by the Android developers, as many as 18 Android devices will be released in the market by the end of 2009. So, one can expect a heavy rush of Android traffic for the remaining four months of the year.

T-Mobile is going to be the official carrier for Motorola Android device. Interestingly, all major mobile carriers are making their possible attempts to grab big pies of Android market. Verizon Wireless is going to bring another Motorola Android smart phone in the market. While Sprint has been decided to support HTC Hero in US, AT&T is also going to join the race soon.
