Motorola DROID Appears Among First Android 2.0 Devices

Android version 2.0, officially known as Eclair, was announced officially only a couple of hours ago and a number of important announcements have been following the new. After Google announced their navigation beta for the new Android platform, it is the time for Motorola to introduce its new handset that will run on Android 2.0.

And the good news is that the cell phone will appear in both GSM and CDMA versions. While the CDMA version of the device was announced few hours back, the GSM version had already undergone the FCC testing. Both versions of Motorola DROID are going to share a number of common features. The screen with size of 3.7 inch offers capacitive touch screen functionality, along with 480 x 854 pixels resolution.

The cell phones also carry 5MP camera with features like auto focus, dual LED flash and video recording at D1@24fps. And of course, you must have already learnt about the wonderful improvements introduced by the Android’s new version in the department of camera interface.

Both HSDPA and HSUPA are available for high speed wireless connectivity. Bluetooth 2.0 with file transfer and A-GPS support with Google Maps navigation are other highlights of the devices. The memory of 16 GB is expected to be onboard in case of each of the versions.

In addition, the ARM Cortex A8 CPU clocked at 550MHz in the list of features offered by Android version 2.0 is going to enhance the speed. So, the devices can be expected to be great performers in the coming days.
