As one can expect from the high-tech devices, the sale for the smart phones has risen by 67 percent. Thus, there are more than 55 million smart phones shipped to various parts of the globe in the first quarter of 2010. And do you know who the major players in the smart phone market are? Apart from HTC and Apple, Motorola is the third manufacturer with major shares in the market.
Though, most of the cell phone manufacturers have experienced a rise in their sales of smart phones, it is the growth of smart phone devices form Motorola that impresses the most. An increase in the Motorola smart phones from 1.1 million in the first quarter of 2009 to 2.6 million units in the first quarter of 2010 has led to 137 percent growth for the manufacturer. Apple follows closely by recording the growth by 131 percent while HTC recorded 106 percent as the growth over first three months of the year.
Another interesting figure relates to the touch-focused smart phones, as such devices have a share of 60 percent in the overall smart phone sales. Touch-driven devices are followed by those equipped with QWERTY keyboards which hold 27 percent of the total sales of smart phone devices. The devices with touch functionality and QWERTY keyboards have enforced the sale of devices with ordinary keypad to drop from 37.2 to 13.5 percent.
