Financial Reports for Nokia and Sony Ericsson - The Sum Up of Q2

As far as financial report of Nokia for second quarter of the year is concerned, the manufacturer has definitely shown sign of improvements from the recession-laden period of the first quarter. With increase of 51% in the operating profit and 38% in the market share, the company has reasons to celebrate and get encouraged for the remaining half of the year. More than 103.2 million devices have been shipped by the manufacturer in the second quarter, showing improvement over the first quarter.

However, the figures are still not better than the second quarter of the last year, but the improvement from quarter one of 2009 is worth considering. Nokia 5800 XpressMusic cell phone can be considered as one of the main contributing devices from the manufacturer that have helped the company to output these figures. Nokia N97, Nokia N86 and Nokia E75 have just begun their journey to become good selling devices. Except from North America, almost all other areas in the world have shown positive signs of improvement in the sale of Nokia handsets.

In the case of Sony Ericsson, the situation is completely unimpressive, as the company recorded a decrease of 5% from the first quarter in the number of devices shipped in second quarter. However, there was improvement in average selling price for the Ericsson devices. The company still needs to work out on things and revive its position as tier one manufacturer in the cell phone industry.
