Annual Google I/O Conference Unveils Great Stuff

The annual Google I/O event raised the curtains from the eagerly awaited Android 2.2 Froyo, the latest version of the smart phone platform. As expected, the new Android has all capabilities to be called the most advanced smart phone platforms till date.

To start with, the Android 2.2 has managed to integrate full support for Flash 10.1, one of the most awaited add-ons for the smart phones. Extended exchange support through password locking, auto discovery and many other features is another exciting update for the newly revealed platform.

In the area of application management, a number of improvements have been made. From installing applications on external storage space to new bug reporting feature, there are some great things one can do with Android Market apps. Car mode and night mode allow the applications to adjust their UI according to the situation. Finally, the Cloud-based Backup and Restore service has been introduced to back-up the third party applications.

The new version also brings enhanced camera capabilities through portrait orientation and onscreen camera keys to have a control on flash, white balance, zooming, geo-tagging and focus.

It is exciting to know that Android 2.2 comes with improved performance over its predecessor. Fast loading of JavaScript-based pages, improved memory management and inclusion of Dalvik JIT Compiler for 2.5x performance improvement are the performance features to adore.

A zoom gesture for 3D gallery viewing, shortcuts for TheĀ  Cell phone, Applications Launcher, and Browser, multi-lingual keyboard support, voice dialing and contact sharing over Bluetooth and use of the smart phone as a 3G modem for computer are some of the other additions worth mentioning.
