The TracFone offers airtime units to it's customers for cost on selected model phones of Nokia, Motorola and LG. It sells the digital Cell Phones and analog phones. Depending on the customer choice, the TracFone service to them like CDMA, GSM or TDMA network. The TracFone individually doesn't build its wireless network, it resells the wireless service from other 30 wireless network providers, as a mobile virtual network operator.
The TracFone operates in the United States combined with other, such as the Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile networks, Sprint and Cingular Wireless. The annual growth of the TracFone is 10.8% per year, with more than 6 million active subscribers. The TracFone Wireless is one of the leading independent providers of nationwide prepaid wireless telecommunications services. The TracFone Wireless provides two types of product such as pay-as-you-go, off-the-shelf mobile phone and prepaid airtime. These two are featured with no annual contracts or activation fees. The TracFone started more then 60,000 retail outlets nation wide, including the Wal-Mart, Lowe's, the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The TracFone captured 98% in it's subsidiary company, America Movil. It is the largest provider of wireless telecommunications in the Latin America. The TracFone is currently the sixth-largest leading mobile network operator and the largest mobile virtual network operator in the United States. To use the services of the TracFone, customers should active their cellphones with TracFone. The Activation process contains calling to the TracFone hot line number or going to the TracFone website and then enrolling the programming code directly into the Cell Phones, or by using the OTA feature. The customer can restore the honor units by entering a substantiation code directly into the cell phone or by using the OTA feature on the prepaid menu. A single unit roughly matches to one minute of telephone airtime.
The Airtime units are usually sold through cards, such as a card for 250 minutes and active service for 1 year and 400 minutes and active service for 1 year. The customers can double the airtime minutes by using the "Double Minute" cards. For getting extra airtime unites customers can use the special 'Promotion codes'. The TracFone Company stared a new service in the the month September 2006, that is Refer-A-Friend. By this service the customers who could refer their friends to TracFone they will get free air time units. Furthermore the TracFone attracted some other customers by boosting pre-pay service. The main goal of the TracFone is to perform a one call resolution. The TracFone offers service for some of mobile models that is Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Nokia.
