Palm Pre Cell Phones
‘Watch out I-phone’! This is the statement what the Palm Pre is launched with (unofficially and informally). Palm Pre is snazzy and great on looks. But at that price, it got to be great on looks! The areas where it scores above other phones in its segment are not the looks, but the design or to put it up more specifically – ‘user specific design’.
It’s clearly evident that I-phone influences the design of this phone, especially its OS (the operating system can be called as an enhancement of the I-phone one!). I-phone users had a lot of complaints about copy and past and MMS messaging. Good news! The complaints are resolved on this phone.
The OS in this Palm phone is governed by the internet and that’s great! Various web services are used to acquire data and it’s fused seamlessly to the OS and apps. This is probably where the phone outshines its counterparts. The user interface is good too and should not have many complaints with the users. Another standout feature is the ‘gesture bar’. This is an alternative (a good one) to the touch-screen. Gesture bar is the black surface under the screen, which streamlines apps for the user’s convenience. The ‘card system’ is another stress buster for the user and will surely be applauded.
The phone has a trackball and an accelerometer too (again, these are good ones). The keyboard isn’t great, but works fine. The camera too steals hearts! Two setbacks for the cell phones- first the ‘flash’ and secondly, the video recording. Hopefully, Palm comes out with a solution to these, to make the PRE better.
