In the month of April 1959, the Kyoto Ceramic Co., Ltd started with the capital of 3 million yen and 28 staff members. The company is specialized for manufacturing the ceramics and printing-related devices. In the month of October 2005, the Kyocera acquires the OHSAS18001 certification, an international standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.
In the year 2001, Kyocera Group sales for the year ending March 31, 2001 break the 1 trillion yen threshold. In January 2000, Kyocera acquired photocopier manufacturer Mita Industrial. After this achievement they started the mobile phone manufacturing operations of San Diego, California-based Qualcomm form Kyocera Wireless. The Kyocera produces various types of products such as Solar cells, Laser Printers, Cell Phones, Digital Cameras and Film Cameras. It also introduced a portable LCD screen computer in 1985.
